Description We are seeking an Accountant to join our team in the non-profit industry based in Midlothian, Virginia. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for managing accounts receivable, maintaining compliance with state and local filing requirements, ensuring a timely monthly close, and assisting with year-end audits.

Responsibilities:

• Processing of Accounts Receivable in a timely and accurate manner, including processing and distributing invoices and posting cash receipts.

• Assisting various departments with status updates on donations, collections, and related information.

• Tracking and acknowledging donations and compiling a weekly A/R aging report.

• Monitoring changes and maintaining compliance with State, and Local filing requirements, including gathering financial data to prepare state filing documents.

• Preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling journal entries, and handling requests for general ledger adjustments.

• Preparing account reconciliations and maintaining and updating Fixed Assets.

• Performing and posting indirect expense allocations and assisting with preparation of year-end financial and program audits.

• Serving as a backup for Accounts Payable and recording investment income.

• Compiling data to be used for financial analysis. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within a non-profit setting

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger maintenance and Journal Entries

• Capability to handle Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in using accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Willingness to continuously improve and update accounting knowledge and skills

• Knowledge of non-profit accounting standards and regulations is a plus.
