Enviri Corporation Production Manager in Midlothian, Texas

Harsco’s Environmental division is the premier provider of material processing and environmental services to the global steel and metals industries. We also have developed a range of by-products for specialized applications across industry, construction and agriculture, which utilize Harsco’s expertise in mineral materials

What are we looking for?

A Production Manager supervises, and coordinates activities of workers engaged in hourly production jobs at Harsco’s customer site located in Midlothian Texas at the Gerdau Steel Mill. This position leads and manages shift Foreman and more than 80 hourly production workers. This position also provides back-up to the Site Manager during absences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Interprets company policies on workers and enforces safety regulations. Has the 100% authority to take a piece of equipment out of order during equipment malfunction periods or if imminent safety danger is in play.

Implements and coordinates safety objectives. Ensures all staff have the required PPE during production periods. Attends company safety meetings and provides daily safety tool box discussions to employees.

Reviews maintenance logs from production workers at the end of each shift. Interfaces closely with maintenance to determine equipment fix timeline. May work with other locations to obtain new or borrowed equipment during equipment failure downtime periods.

Hires, trains and conducts performance reviews on employees. Takes appropriate disciplinary steps on an as needed basis. Coordinates with Human Resources on hiring, disciplines and terminations.

Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used.

Directs workers in special projects as requested by the customer.

Oversees the operation of equipment such as pit loaders, trucks, bulldozers, cranes, graders, etc.

Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

Interprets job orders to workers and assigns duties.

Ensures all shift records and documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner to facilitate data collection required for payroll, maintenance, etc.

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises all activities of shift Foreman and hourly Production workers at the Plant.

Acts as back up Site Manager and supervises salaried employees in the office and on-shift during absence periods.

What Does It Take to be a Successful Candidate?

Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years supervisory experience in a metals or minerals plant, large construction project or equivalent plant type environment. Experience must also include customer facing interactions and the ability to forecast and track daily production quotas to assist the plant with meeting revenue and profit margin targets.

LANGUAGE

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
