Title: Lead Carpenter

Reports To: Construction Manager

Job Goal: The Lead Carpenter will lead and supervise all field carpenter, unskilled and semi-skilled workers, as well as subcontractors that are involved in our construction projects. The Lead Carpenter ensures that construction projects are on budget and completed on schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Assign and explain tasks to the project team
  • Calculate the amount of labor, time, and materials needed for each project
  • Verify construction materials needed for the project
  • Supervise filed carpenters, unskilled and semi-skilled workers, and subcontractors
  • Perform all carpentry duties required, including both rough and finish work
  • Maintain accurate records of all work done by the project team
  • Provide regular project updates to the Construction Manager
  • Inspect materials upon arrival to ensure quality and quantity
  • Ensure cleanliness or work area and truck

  • Attention to details ensuring that all projects meet quality standards
  • Effective at solving problems in a manner that balances clients needs, current schedules and awareness of financial impact

Education/Experience:

  • Ability to lead, manage and hold employees to schedules and performance standards
  • Proven experience in residential remodeling or construction
  • Sound knowledge of safety standards and procedures
  • The ability to safely operate power tools

Work Context:

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and outside conditions that could/ may include inclement weather, heat, humidity along with exposure to dust and concrete
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support overtime without fatigue
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
  • Loud or noisy work conditions
  • Excellent stamina is needed/ required

Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation or the ability to get to the job
  • Valid driver's license is desirable but not required (pay could be increased based on a valid driver's license and pay can be decreased if driver's license is suspended for any reason)
  • Job duties and requirements may change based on needs of the scope of work or the season the work will be done/ completed
