Corteva Agriscience Lead Campaign Engineer, Pilot Plant in Midland, Michigan

Description

Who are we, and what do we do?

Corteva Agriscience has an opportunity for a highly motivated Engineer to join our Pilot Plant team located in Midland, MI. The Pilot Plant team operates two separate Midland, MI facilities focused on demonstrating New Technologies emerging from the R&D pipeline, generating large samples (250-1000 kg) of new Intermediates and Active Ingredients, which supply our business with product for formulations development, field trials and toxicology studies. While executing campaigns, the team also generates process data useful in the design and operation of full-scale manufacturing of these new molecules.

Through scale-up of novel chemical processes, the Pilot Plant team continues to be integral in the successful launch of next generation products, and the Pilot Plant Campaign Lead Engineer is critical in that process.

The Campaign Lead Engineer is responsible for scaling up the process from lab scale to pilot scale. This is typically done over 4-6 months prior to start-up and involves leading a small team of chemists and engineers to generate a design, safety review and implement and physical changes necessary. Campaign Leader Engineers primarily acts as project managers (schedule, resourcing, etc), but also dives into technical details and coordinates/supports the start-up activities. This job is unique in that it straddles both Production and R&D work environments. It requires an “Exploratory Mindset” to assist with the implementation and demonstration of new chemical processes through multiple short-duration campaigns (vs. long-term manufacturing of the same product).

This Campaign Lead Engineer aligns directly to the Pilot Plant Leader and collaborates closely with adjacent Corteva production plants here in Michigan Operations.
