Phillips 66 Mechanical Tech - Experienced, Midland Area in Midkiff, Texas

The Mechanical Technician role works independently and with others to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. They troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. This position may cover surrounding areas including Rawhide and Goldsmith, TX.

This position is potentially eligible for relocation assistance.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Performing maintenance and repairs on engines, compressors and associated components, such as compressor valves, spark plugs, cooling and lubrication systems (auxiliary).

  • Leads or performs overhaul of compressors and engines\engine swings, including foundation work, initial alignment, testing, and startup.

  • Ensuring the safe, effective and efficient performance of maintenance and operation activities in accordance with Company standards and regulatory guidelines

  • Complying with company policies, procedures and directives

  • Performing work on air pollution control equipment

  • Performing required preventive and corrective maintenance on various types of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations

  • Identifying maintenance work and initiating work requests

  • Driving a company owned vehicle within assigned area

  • Training less experienced employees and overseeing the work of contract personnel

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems

  • Ability to provides Quality Assurance\Quality Control over 3rd Party contractors performing major maintenance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license

  • Must live/relocate within 45 miles of reporting location

  • 3 or more years maintenance/mechanical experience in oil and gas or related industry

  • Maintain all required operations and safety training including required Operator Qualifications for DOT covered tasks

  • Willing and able perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:

  • Climb various ladders and stairs ranging 5 to 20 feet in height on platforms and catwalks to perform maintenance on equipment as part of this position

  • Raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Occasionally exerts pulling force of 130 pounds

  • Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain

  • Work scheduled or unscheduled overtime on an as-needed basis

  • Willing and able to work a rotating call-out schedule

  • Work outside in harsh weather conditions

  • Work alone a high percentage of the time

  • Wear fire-retardant clothing and other personal protective equipment, such as steel-toe shoes and ear and eye protection

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years maintenance/mechanical experience in oil and gas or related industry

  • 3 or more years direct experience with reading schematics, manuals and drawings

  • 1 or more years of direct experience conducting pipeline integrity tool runs

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, and available maintenance programs

  • A sound knowledge of code requirements, including OSHA, Process Safety

Midstream

Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 22,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
