SAIC Quality Engineer in MIDDLETOWN, Rhode Island

Description

SAIC is seeking a Quality Engineer in Middletown, RI to support manufacturing and engineering activities including design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electromechanical systems and specialized test equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Plans, executes, and oversees inspection and testing of products to verify conformance with specifications and deliverables.

  • Works with engineering and procurement teams to ensure purchased product requirements are clearly defined and communicated to suppliers.

  • Oversees supplier quality management processes including RCCA and supplier process audits.

  • Leads the development and management of inspection plans throughout process.

  • As needed performs part inspection, including layout, in process, final, and receiving using all types of electrical and mechanical inspection equipment.

  • Develops and maintains inspection reports, data collection processes and develops reports to monitor defined metrics.

  • Supports internal and 3rd party quality audits for manufacturing and lab operations.

  • Oversees document control and calibration systems.

  • Develops new standards for production design, with improvements as needed, and creates testing protocols.

  • Oversees internal RCCA and continual improvement processes and activity.

  • Analyzes data utilizing statistical techniques from various sources such as C of C’s, first articles, incoming inspection, and in process inspection to measure performance and drive corrective action and continual improvement activity.

  • Identifies training needs and ensure companywide participation.

  • Completes other duties as defined.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline with at least three (3) years experience or Associate degree in engineering with at least five (5) years experience in similar role in manufacturing environment building electronic systems; Preferred background in quality, engineering, Aerospace, or military specifications.

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen.

  • Must be able to obtain Secret security clearance.

  • Ability to read and interpret assembly and component drawings, engineering specifications, and electrical schematics.

  • Ability to use variety of precision measuring tools, including multi meters, electrical test equipment, micrometers, calipers, and other similar metrology devices.

  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to details with the ability to perform multiple tasks and obtain timely results.

  • Good oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external.

  • Capacity to work independently from general supervision (must be self-motivated once given direction/guidance).

  • Proficient in MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn other business software application to support role.

  • ISO 9000; ISO 9001; AS9100. Preferred background in military electronics technician support.

  • Root cause analysis experience.

  • Above average math skills with sound knowledge in statistics.

  • Provide training and support to quality assurance team members, focusing on systems, policies, procedures, and core processes.
