Responsibilities The Orthopedic Surgeon is primarily focused in the diagnosis and treatment of, the clinical management of, the favorable impact on quality of care of, and is responsible to oversee the total care of, the Orthopedic patient. The Orthopedic Surgeon will use a variety of skills to educate, consult and manage the orthopedic patient population and assist the patient/family, the patient care team and other physicians and providers. The Orthopedic Surgeon will work collaboratively with the health care team including orthopedic nurse practitioners, anesthesiologists, other physicians involved in the orthopedic patient care, nurses, case management, physical and occupational therapy and with departments affecting the care of the Orthopedic patient. The Orthopedic Surgeon will act as a clinical educator working with staff on orthopedic competencies, new procedures and advanced practice skills. The Orthopedic Surgeon will work with the care team to implement necessary medical aspects of care including discharges and pain management. The Orthopedic Surgeon will use these skills to affect a quality patient experience. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the role is $470,759 through $639,741 annually. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity). Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION: M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy with ABIM-recognized internal medicine residency (three years minimum). MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience in Orthopedic practice. Experience with shoulders and knees a plus. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Current Physician Licensure in New York State Graduate of an Accredited M.D. or D.O. Program Current BLS Certification required. ACLS, ATLS & PALS Certification preferred. Board Certification or Current Board Eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery within 60 months Valid DEA registration Physical Requirements: Stands, walks, sits intermittently throughout the day. Lifts, pushes, pulls light to heavy weights as required. Working Conditions: Work is primarily indoors with exposure to various nursing unit and/or patient care elements. Travel to outside facilities is required.
