POSITION SUMMARY: Assists in planning and designing manufacturing processes for a production facility. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing the layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization, determines the parts, equipment, and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications, and works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Process improvement activities that provide a more efficient, streamlined, and standardized workflow.

  • Incorporating quality plans into manufacturing processes to ensure the overall quality of products delivered.

  • Utilizing manufacturing part process knowledge to establish standards for estimating RFQs and frozen processes.

  • Developing and reviewing standards, part methods, and bill of materials for accuracy.

  • Utilizing sales engineering estimates, customer PO, blueprint, and subcontract services to develop a manufacturing process plan and identify the proper work center.

  • Incorporating customer specifications into the process plan by working from blueprints, sketches, CAD files, or other information to determine the best method of manufacture.

  • Verifying existing and identifying new tooling needed. Design tooling and fixtures required for the manufacturing of new jobs.

  • Designing or sub-contracting required tooling and certain levels of operations.

  • Identifying material handling methods and resources required to produce and handle products.

  • Plan improvements in methods to ensure quality and cost for the best method of manufacture.

  • Prepare as required, CAD layouts, process sheets, and tool drawings to support the process.

  • Determining best manufacturing methods working with shop personnel.

  • Maintaining production methods.

  • The design and execution of new manufacturing processes as part of the new part introduction.

  • Support in the disposition of non-conforming material, investigate the root cause, and implement corrective action.

  • Utilizes MRP/ERP system to update manufacturing routers and document processes.

  • Implementing process improvement through lean manufacturing activities including value stream mapping and Kaizen events

  • Working closely with production personnel to identify and resolve product flow roadblocks.

    EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • 2-5 years of Engineering experience in aerospace contract manufacturing

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and sequences.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration, recognition of individual strengths and areas for improvement.

  • Able to understand and interpret technical plans, specifications, operations sheets, etc.

  • Computer literate (Windows, MS Office, E-mail, etc.)

  • Experience in MRP/ERP systems, Epicor is a plus

  • Experience with SolidWorks (CAD)
