What You Will Do:

The Pratt & Whitney (P&W) Middletown, CT Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) organization is seeking a motivated professional who is an experienced leader in Health & Safety (H&S) compliance and management systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with the leadership team and line supervision to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations and adherence to P&W procedures and company EH&S Standard Practices as well as identification of health & safety hazards and controls to mitigate risks.

  • Acting as the Site program manager for health & safety programs such as Hoist & Rigging, Crane Safety, Control of Hazardous Energy, Personal Protective Equipment, and other H&S programs. In this role, the successful candidate will define requirements, audit program elements, write standard work, implement regulatory compliance activities, provide training, and oversee site-wide compliance.

  • Facilitating incident reviews and responding to incidents including being on-call.

  • This position is also expected to provide timely information and guidance to the EH&S councils and Sub-Committees, including H&S performance trends and root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses; and support in the development and implementation of strategic action plans to achieve the company goal of having a hazard-free workplace, injury-free employees and an unmatched commitment to compliance and pollution prevention.

  • The successful candidate will exhibit outstanding writing and presentation skills, and strong analytical and organizational ability. Strong working knowledge of H&S management systems is essential as is demonstrated experience in environmental and safety compliance.

  • Robust interpersonal skills, leadership ability, and adaptability are expected.

  • This position reports directly to the Module Center Health & Safety Manager.

Qualifications You Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience.

  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts.

  • Proven strong communication, strategic leadership, technical, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Proven skills working as/with a team to meet highly aggressive goals required.

  • EH&S regulatory and management systems knowledge required.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience working in a union manufacturing environment preferred.

  • EH&S experience developing and implementing industry leading Safety and Health Program.

  • Mentoring and training experience.

  • Forming, facilitating, and maintaining internal and cross functional teams and relationships.

  • Continuous Improvement experience e.g., ACE, Six Sigma, LEAN etc. strongly desired.

  • Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Capable of working with a wide range of people from the site leader to shop floor.

  • Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH.P.E. or CHMM, strongly desired.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
