New England Residential Services Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Middletown, Connecticut

New England Residential Services is looking to hire Full-time, Part-time Direct Support Professionals in most locations! The ideal candidate is committed to their work, is punctual, has a great sense of humor and genuinely cares to help adults with developmental delays.

Direct Support Professionals work with individuals with mental or developmental disabilities by helping to create behavior plans, teaching self-care skills, cooking meals and doing laundry. Additional duties may include:

  • Assisting clients with daily personal tasks, including bathing and dressing
  • Completing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes and tidying
  • Helping plan client appointments and organize a schedule
  • Organizing with transportation arrangements to appointments
  • Shopping for groceries and preparing meals that meet specific client dietary needs
  • Encouraging client engagement in social networks and communities

Responsibilities: * Maintains a personal yet professional relationship with individuals, co-workers, family members and employees of outside agencies. * Promotes choice and independence in all life areas; provides assistance only when requested or necessary. * Is a good role model for individuals supported * Exhibits and promotes a positive attitude in all interactions * Is physically able to perform all essential job functions which may include the following: lifting, various physical management techniques, light and heavy household tasks, driving and life saving techniques Benefits: Any position working more than 20 hours are entitled to benefits, even if not scheduled for a 20 hours position.'
