About the role

The Technical Manager is responsible for the oversight and the development of Fire Safety Products and provide quality assurance of current fire detection Products. The Technical Manager can review building control consultations for simple, complex and fire engineered design submissions. Provide support and guidance to the business whilst providing customer support remotely and site visits where our products have been installed. The Technical Manager will support, train, and offer guidance our current team of sales professionals and customers in line with our quality framework.

You will develop and support business engagement campaigns; and will work with other departments and partners to improve the quality of our products.

You should be willing to attend external bodies, national committees or working groups as required and network with peers to capture/share learning and good practice.

This is an exciting role for a Technical Manager aspiring to be part of a customer focused team. You’ll be involved in all stages of product design from the initial concept through to release for manufacture and create new designs to update our current product range. Your key responsibilities will be the following:

As a Technical Manager, you'll be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing new Fire Detectors and associated ancillaries.

  • Resolving problems at the root cause and manage engineering change process.

  • Supporting our product team to maintain and ensure safety and quality.

  • Proactively identifying continuous improvements of our products.

  • Work with the current team, identify knowledge gaps in product and legislation and provide training.

  • On site support to customers facing issues and provide CPD training where required.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Previous experience working in the residential fire industry.

  • Degree or equivalent in Design Engineering

  • Good knowledge of the fire legislation in England and Scotland

  • Experience in manufacturing of fire detection equipment

  • Problem solving tool knowledge.

  • The ability to work on their own initiative with minimum supervision and communicate effectively both written and verbal at all levels.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task will be key to ensuring the expectations of our internal and external are met

  • Experience of working in the fire industry at a technical level.

  • Self-motivation , ability to work and get on well with others, both internal and external, ability to achieve deadlines and targets on their own initiative, personable and a good communicator.

  • Ability to talk and present to large groups of people.

  • Ability to understand, interpret, and simplify complex information.
