rDescription

rThe Nighttime Cook will prepare a variety of menu items for service following established preparation guidelines using a griddle, char broiler, deep fat fryer and pizza oven to prepare food to order within forecasted and planned amounts. He/she will complete all assigned work ensuring high quality and timely meal preparation and following all standards of quality and sanitation. The Nighttime Cook will prepare food products in customer service areas serving and interacting with customers in a friendly and courteous manner. He/she will assist members of the culinary team with executing meal service and be willing and able to take direction and guidance from more senior cooks.

rThis is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of \$18.63-22.82 per hour.

r

rSome of the hours worked could also qualify for hourly shift differential rates and weekend shift differential.

r

  • Hours worked between 6 p.m. and 12 a.m: an additional \$1.50/hr r
  • Hours worked between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m: an additional \$3.00/hr r
  • Hours worked on weekends an additional \$1.00/hr.

rCore Responsibilities:

  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment. r
  • Leads in food production work includes cutting vegetables, meats & cheeses, some oven & toaster work r
  • Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures. Observe proper food storage and handling procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment. r
  • May on occasion, serve alcohol to a diverse population. Sale of such alcohol must conform to a laws set forth be the Vermont DLC. Must past certification course from DLC of Vermont r
  • Observe proper food storage and handling procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Assis in receiving and taking deliveries. r
  • Ensure the highest standards in sanitary BOH procedures, fill out temp and time sheets, follow cleaning checklists, Food storage and prep areas are clean and always maintained. Following VT safety and sanitary standards revery shift. r
  • May on Occasion be asked to work on POS and help cover other dining operations, be versed on basics for cash operations. r
  • Always Cleaning work areas, including counters, floors, dishes, and related equipment and ensures they are in proper sanitary condition

rRequirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred. r
  • Safe Serve Food Service Sanitation Certificate will be administered during training period. r
  • The Retail Foods Cook will be expected to continue to develop his/her culinary skills though a demonstrated commitment to grow and become increasingly versatile to the unit and organization. r
  • Minimum three years of experience as a cook. r
  • Minimum three years of experience or training in cold food preparation, food storage and shelf life, basic kitchen work, with knowledge of food service cleanliness and sanitation standards.

rPhysical Demands and Working Conditions

rMust be able to stand for up to 4 hours continuously, as well as frequent bending and overhead reaching with twisting motions. Must be able to lift 10-20# numerous times during the day and up to 50lbs several times each day, must be able to push and pull up to 70lbs frequently.
