Dairy Farmers of America Lab Technician in Middlebury Center, Pennsylvania

RATE: $20.00 per hour/Plus night shift differential of .35 /  MUST BE WILLING TO WORK  4PM-12AM  Hours/Days  Work 10 days on 4 days off , 8 hour shifts.  The primary role of a Laboratory Technician is to assure product quality by supporting the monitoring, observing and testing process. Duties and Responsibilities: - Ensuring compliance with all company policies, local, state, and federal regulations. - Ensuring the following facility programs are followed: Safety, Food Safety, GMP, Preventive Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Sanitation. - Helping ensure all policies and procedures for the American Institute of Baking (AIB), Quality Assurance International (QAI) organic, FDA, USDA, CDPHE, and GMA SAFE are followed. - Ensuring all customer specific policies, procedures, and specifications are followed. - Properly test incoming and outgoing product for suitability and compliance with appropriate standards. - Notify plant supervision and management in any out of range value or variation from accepted norms in operation or product quality. - Maintain individual state and/or federal licenses. - Performing preventative maintenance, function verification and quality control tasks. - Continuously looking for continuous improvement and process improvement. - Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and work area. - Monitor laboratory operations, documenting and correcting discrepancies identified in technician performance. - Document laboratory values as required in plant records. - Manage sample retention and laboratory inventory levels. - Review Performance Verification and Preventive Maintenance records for completeness and archive as needed. - Performing all other duties deemed appropriate, necessary, required, or directed by the Quality Assurance Manager and Plant Manager. - Safeguard and protect all company assets. - Make decisions in a timely manner. - Anticipate problems and implement solutions. - Demonstrate sound judgment in safeguarding customer, company, vendor and employee information. - Responsible for the attainment of plant goals and objectives - Use skills and talent to contribute to organizational success. - Maintain a cooperative working relationship with customers, vendors, employees, and peers. - Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and situation.

Requirements:

  • MUST BE WILLING TO WORK  4pm-12am  10 days on 4 days off/ 8 hour shifts
  • MUST HAVE High School Diploma or G.E.D.Required 
  • Preferred: Two year Applied Science Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or Microbiology
  •  Minimum one-year experience in a food laboratory or similar role.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good record-keeping skills.
  • Must be able to use and understand calculations used for laboratory analysis.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and writing, sufficiently to prepare and comprehend wash tags, shipping and receiving paperwork, laboratory procedures and references, state and federal regulations regarding the testing of dairy products and communicate with fellow employees.
  • Must be able to use plant equipment, laboratory apparatus and office automation equipment.
  • Takes on additional responsibility when both big and small tasks need to be done.
