What You'll Do

The Electrical Engineer will be deeply involved in root cause analysis for electrical and electro-mechanical system failures both from production and from field returns with the goal of implementing design changes to eliminate the failure mode. This includes the creation and execution of test plans for design change validation as well as the design and build of test fixtures (new or upgrade) to improve overall product quality. The EE will also provide support to the production and purchasing teams with guidance on component substitutions due to supply shortages or obsolescence and as a member of continuous improvement teams.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities

  • System and component level failure analysis / permanent corrective action for field failures and returned parts.

  • Design and build test fixtures (electrical and electro-mechanical)

  • Responsible for search and validation of acceptable component substitutions (temporary or permanent)

  • Active member of New Production Launch Team

  • Active member of Design for Manufacturing, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement teams

  • Initiate and drive material cost reduction and labor reduction projects

Qualifications

  • BSEE and 3+ years of related experience

  • Troubleshooting circuit boards

  • Proficient with the application of IPC and J Standard assembly guidelines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Experience leading small teams for continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective action projects

  • Familiarity with formalized root cause analysis tools (ie. 5 why, 8D, Fault Tree, Shainin)

  • Circuit board design (preferred)

  • Experience with data acquisition systems (Preferred)
