The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) at the University of Miami, Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science invites applications for one Senior Research Associate I (SRA I) position at the NOAA Fisheries Southeast Fisheries Science Center, Marine Mammal and Turtle Division located in Crowley, Louisiana.

Candidates for this position must have: 1) a Master’s degree or higher in marine biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field; (2) laboratory experience including collection and analysis of genomic data sets; (3) the ability and desire to work as part of a collaborative team and support a culture of respect, inclusivity, and cooperation; (4) demonstrated organizational and communication skills; and (5) demonstrated ability to successfully and efficiently work on multiple tasks at once. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory work and genomic analyses supporting the Marine Mammal Program at the Crowley, Louisiana laboratory. Duties will include performing DNA extractions, PCR, DNA sequencing, next-generation library preparation, and utilization of techniques involved with eDNA collection, extraction, and data analysis including metabarcoding. Additional duties include database entry, archiving, and management of all genomic data, metadata, and pipelines, and the preparation of reports and/or peer-reviewed manuscripts.
