The SCCC Clinical Research Coordinator 2 will manage a foundation funded, multi-site, longitudinal randomized controlled study in which the impact of the services and programs of a patient advocacy organization has access to care, quality of life, and financial burden among diverse patients with a blood cancer.

The CRC 2 will possess extensive experience in recruitment and assessment of cancer patients. The coordinator will work with the PI, foundation overseers and director of research support to implement and maintain this study.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees laboratory equipment purchase, use, maintenance, repair, and inventory.

  • Manages service contracts.

  • Trains laboratory staff on how to use laboratory equipment, laboratory techniques, and safety procedures.

  • Prepares laboratories for annual safety inspections.

  • Coordinates seminars and special activities in relation to research and laboratory safety.

  • Oversees the management of laboratory animals.

  • Collaborates with IT to maintain laboratory computers and servers running smoothly.

  • Assists with arrangement of laboratory guests, speakers, and recruitment visits.

  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

    Additional Job Duties:

  • Supervise study staff in their study related tasks and perform study activities including participant recruitment, assessment and follow-up, scheduling, and administration of all measures and screening tools.

  • Maintain and expand collaborative relationships with hospital clinics, physicians, and nurses within our medical center.

  • Responsible for providing research support to the PI, assist with maintenance of databases, conducting assessments as needed, tracking participants, and coordinating biweekly research meetings with Foundation representatives.

  • Assist the PIs and work collaboratively with other study sites in the preparation of IRB, LLS and regulatory compliance reports.

  • Operate as liaison for the study personnel and the various transdisciplinary teams at our performance sites.

  • Oversee, track and maintain CITI-training in the Protection of Human Participants and OSHA-mandated training related to the handling of physiological specimens for all study personnel including those relevant to handling biospecimens.

  • Coordinate and standardize training for all assessors and recruiters and preparing assessment and recruitment protocols and workflows.
