CiTi BOCES High School Exceptional Education Program Principal in Mexico, New York

The High School Exceptional Education Program Principal plays a critical role in ensuring the success and well-being of students with exceptional needs within CiTi BOCES. This position involves leadership, collaboration, and strategic planning to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Educational Leadership:

  • Provide visionary leadership to the exceptional education department, ensuring alignment with CiTi's goals and educational standards.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes student growth, equity, and excellence.

  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement effective instructional practices for students with diverse learning needs.

  • Student Support and Advocacy:

  • Advocate for students with exceptional needs, ensuring their access to appropriate services, accommodations, and resources.

  • Address behavioral and emotional challenges by implementing evidence-based strategies.

  • Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, and psychologists to support student well-being.

  • Staff Supervision and Professional Development:

  • Supervise special education teachers, teaching assistants, and related service providers.

  • Oversee the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and related service providers.

  • Monitor student progress.

  • Provide ongoing professional development to enhance staff expertise in exceptional education and strong instructional practices.

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.

  • Collaboration and Community Engagement:

  • Work closely with district administrators and community stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with other BOCES departments to ensure seamless services for students.

  • Engage parents, families, and community organizations to promote student success.

Job Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.

  • New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL) certification.

  • Extensive experience in special education, including teaching and leadership roles.

  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
