Job Overview :

The Aveva Instrumentation Administrator is responsible for set-up, configuration, and support of Aveva’s Instrumentation application for project execution

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Aid with requirements gathering to understand application configuration and project information requirements

  • Set-up and configure Aveva Instrumentation based on project requirements, including creating symbology, filters, datasheet templates, reports, system maintenance, drawing templates, etc.

  • Reports include Instrument List, Instrument Index, Cable schedule, et al

  • Drawings include Loop, Hook-up, Installation, Cable Block, and Wiring Diagrams

  • Development and management of instrument catalog items and symbols

  • Customize instrument datasheets per project requirements

  • Set-up and customize “Compare and Update” functionality

  • Produce documentation to confirm application setup and configuration meets project scope and information requirements.

  • Maintain the Aveva Instrumentation database for projects including backups, reports, imports, data integrity, etc. including the customization of reports as per project requirements

  • Monitor and trouble-shoot and solve application and database problems to ensure project integrity and user support.

  • Provide training and training documentation to support Instrumentation department and project execution

  • Develop training documentation (e.g., work instructions / user guidelines) for users

  • Has the ability to effectively conduct training sessions to new users

  • Assist in developing department and project specific workflows and standards

  • Create audit requirements and periodically check for design quality and conformance with project information requirements

  • Help / develop automation enhancements where appropriate

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team including process, mechanical, civil-structural, electrical, instrumentation, and CAD support

  • Prepare Instrumentation data for interface with other Aveva applications such as Engineering and Asset Information Manager (e.g., AIM or Aveva Net)

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Demonstrated project experience in the setting up, configuring, administering, and supporting Aveva Instrumentation

  • Knowledge of MSSQL and ability to write / update queries

  • Aveva Certified Instrumentation Designer/System Administrator

  • 4+ years’ experience in providing engineering design application support and administration in the Oil and Gas/Petro Chemical Industry

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Knowledge of PML Programming and DABACON queries considered an asset

  • Experience administering, using, or interfacing with other AVEVA Applications experience (e.g., Engineering, E3D, Asset Information Manager (AIM), AVEVA P&ID) considered an asset.

  • Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation considered an major asset

  • Experience with data management to include instrumentation class information requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong MS-Office skills

  • Ability to speak English and Spanish considered a plus
