SR. COMMODITY MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Commodity Manager is responsible for providing the design and implementation of sourcing solutions that ensure continuity of mechanical supplies enabling Advanced Energy’s various business groups to operate efficiently, support internal requirements, corporate cost objectives, and enables cost effective solutions for spending across the North America and EMEA regions. Responsible for oversight on performance metrics related to Quality, Delivery, and Cost, and have overall responsible to analyze and execute decisions regarding supplier selection, overall performance, and problem resolution/crisis management.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides management support for business and strategic procurement activities related to Mechanical spend.

  2. Providesstrategic supply chain management by developing lean and highly responsive suppliers.

  3. Support development Global Materials Procedure and fully implement across all global sites.

  4. Maintain compliance with corporate and manufacturing operations policies and procedures.

  5. Ensure that the highest ethical standards are adhered to in procurement practices.

  6. Develops cost effective sources of supply that support AE’s growth strategies.

  7. Develops key suppliers to meet AE supplier certification requirements, and reviews and maintains metrics related to supplier certification.

  8. Evaluates price trends, new products, and manufacturing processes that improve overall commodity team performance. Overall responsibilities for Price negotiations and all pricing decisions.

  9. Develops and administers supplier contracts for managingcosts, schedules, performance factors, service levels, supplier liability limits, and continuity of supply.

  10. Works closely with suppliers to identify non-value added processes and costs, as well as opportunities for leveraged buying of materials that may be common across platforms in the material supply chain.

  11. Takes action to ensure continuous improvement of the commodity team’s productivity and effectiveness through adequate training of personnel. Communicates supplier and commodity strategy, purpose, and long term direction to the commodity team.

  12. Provides the overall coordination of the corporate supply chain to ensure continuity of supply and that suppliers meet corporate strategic needs. This includes helping to ensure the timely delivery of quality parts consistent with cost targets.

  13. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).

Travel required approximately 25% of time both domestic and international.

SKILLS:

  1. Proven or demonstrated performance developing strategic supplier relationships.

  2. Proactive problem solver with strong planning orientation and ability to work material requirement forecasts.

  3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  4. Excellent working knowledge of purchasing, production control, and supply chain management.

  5. Prefer demonstrated history of supplier transfers and localization, especially in Mexico

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  1. Experience in supply chain management in an electronics manufacturing environment.

  2. Ability to communicate with all levels in an organization.

  3. Experience with self-directed work teams.

  4. Experience with a high mix / low volume part procurement environment is preferred.

  5. Experience in mechanical products manufacturing strongly preferred (sheet metal, machining, injection molded plastics, extrusions).

EDUCATION:

Essential:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Operations Management, or equivalent education and/or experience.
