Job/Position DescriptionReceptionist IUnder the direction of the Switchboard Supervisor, the operator is responsible for the courteous efficient and effective operation of the Switchboard, to promote a positive image of Mexia State Supported Living Center. Work involves answering and transferring local and long distance calls, performing related paging and/or clerical task, monitoring alarm system and handling emergency situations according to policy and procedures. Work consists of simple and routine duties. Decisions are varied but are based on well-defined guidelines. This will be for a split shift that rotates between 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and will be required to work a rotating shift, and at times extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.1. Placing, answering, and transferring local and long distance calls in an efficient manner.2. Provides relief for other operators for coverage during illness and vacation.3. Responds to emergency calls on and off campus.4. Greets visitors, answers questions and phone in a pleasant and professional manner.5. Monitors fire alarm system and reports trouble.6. Maintains records.Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Knowledge of the operation of multi-line phone equipment.2. Ability to react calmly and quickly in emergency situations.3. Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees and to interact harmoniously with clients, their family members, visitors, and the general public.6. Strength and flexibility to perform CPR.7. Must be available to work varied shifts as needed.8.
