Internship Dates: February 10, 2025- April 18, 2025

Summary

Our 10-week internship offers a comprehensive and immersive experience for students interested in gaining practical knowledge and skills in the banking industry. You will have the opportunity to complete projects that will help you understand the day-to-day operations and analysis of a credit and debit card fraud department, as well as the chance to receive guidance from experienced professionals in the field, participate in meetings, and network with other interns and associates. By the end of the program, you will have gained valuable insights, built a solid foundation in banking practices, and potentially set the stage for future career opportunities at First Horizon Bank.

Work schedule and number of hours worked per week (minimum: 15 – 25 hours) are flexible, within normal business hours.

The Intern will learn and assist with the day-to-day duties of the Card Fraud Analysis team, including:

  • Collaborate with the fraud prevention team to organize and visualize trends within debit and credit card transaction data using tools such as Excel, Power BI and Python

  • Assist with updating the team Confluence site

  • Compile data for further analysis by senior team members

  • Assist in ad hoc tasks related to fraud prevention

Required qualifications

  • Full-time undergraduate student with anticipated graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025

  • GPA of 2.75 or above

  • Pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data visualization, Power Query, Power Pivot, ETL- Extract, Transform, Load)

  • Strategic and critical thinking skills to detect anomalies and irregularities in transaction records

  • Resourcefulness, team-oriented, enthusiastic

  • Demonstrated self-development (work or campus)

  • Ability to interface and network with people at all levels of an organization

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Python, SQL and/or R skills a plus

Bonus qualifications

  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools

  • Experience with small scale database organization/management/cleanup (using Excel spreadsheets)

  • Familiarity with Jira/Confluence

Computer and Office Equipment Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite
