Mechanical Design Drafter

Nammo Defense Systems Inc., a defense contractor, manufactures and supports shoulder-fired systems; energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, medium & large caliber ammunitions, mortar ammunition; and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aero-structures.

How you will be rewarded as a Mechanical Design Drafter

• Monday-Thursday work week working four 10-hour days

Primary Responsibilities of a Mechanical Design Drafter

• Create part, sheet metal, surface, and assembly models

• Create photo-realistic renderings and animations

• Create detailed, fully defined, level 3 technical data packages per MIL-STD-31000 and ASME Y14.100

• Comprehension of product design and manufacturing methods

• Familiarity with assembly tooling, fixturing, and gage design

• Comfortable interfacing with engineers, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and machine shops

• Perform all file management, data management, and document release processes

Required Experience & Skills for a Mechanical Design Drafter

• A bachelor’s or associate degree in mechanical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or Engineering

• At least 5 years of relevant experience designing products of a mechanical nature, with some electronics

• 3D Parametric Solids Modeling, Solid Edge preferred

• Fluency with ASME Y14.5, certification preferred

• Comfortable with pneumatics and electronics, and ability to create corresponding diagrams.

• Understanding of joining methods: bolted joints, welding, brazing, press fit

• Understanding of design limitations of materials: aluminums, steel alloys, CRES, plastics, and composites

• Background in designing to military specifications, preferred

• Ability to obtain BATF approval to work with NDS products
