WSP USA Senior Consultant, Structural Engineering in Merrimack, New Hampshire

WSP USA is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Structural Engineer to join our dynamic Structures Bridge Design/Inspection Group in New England. We are looking to hire in Boston & Worcester, MA/Providence, RI/Merrimack, NH/ Glastonbury, CT.

Your Impact

  • Work with our Bridge/Highway Design Team on a variety of project development and design tasks.

  • Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.

  • Assist in the preparation of Bridge Load Ratings

  • Work as a Team Member on Bridge Inspections

  • Assist with the development of plans/sketches using AutoCAD

  • Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.

  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.

  • Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.

  • Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.

  • Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.

  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.

  • Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.

  • 7+ years of experience in bridge inspection or design or other bridge related work.

  • Engineer in Training Certification (PE preferred).

  • Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.

  • Demonstrated interest in structures, transportation or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.

  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members.

  • Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is required.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program. OR Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, or related, Masters or PhD program.

  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
