Job Description

This is a hybrid home and office work location position. There will be times when you will be required to work onsite. These include systems integration and test activities, classified activities, and working on non-network accessible hardware platforms. To allow employees to balance their work and personal lives, we offer flexible 9/80 work schedules, where employees work nine-hour days with every other Friday off within a two-week pay period.

The FAST Labs business area is the innovative research and development engine within the Electronic Systems Sector of BAE.

As a Fast Labs Software Manager I (Technical Section Lead) you will:

  • Lead in the evaluation and design and implementation of highly complex and innovative software architectures.

  • Handle people management (hiring, performance management, goal setting, and career growth) for a section of 5-10 people.

  • Manage the technical success of teams as a software engineering lead (SWEL).

  • Mentor and train junior staff in software engineering industry best practices and processes.

  • Contribute to and review software proposals as a primary representative of the FAST Labs software organization.

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary teams of engineers including Hardware, Systems, Software and Scientists.

Qualified candidates will also possess knowledge of software architectures, software industry best practices, and emerging software technologies. As a member of the Software Engineering Directorate, you will have opportunities to continue developing strong and increasingly complex software skills and stay current in the software discipline.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience as a technical team lead for complex SW development efforts.

  • Experience as a Software Architect.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical area with 8 years professional SW development experience, or

  • Master's Degree in a technical area with 6 years professional SW development experience.

  • Recent experience with object-oriented C in a Linux Environment

  • Experience developing applications that cover several of: distributed, multi-threaded, real time, embedded, low latency, DSP, or military systems.

  • Current SECRET clearance and ability to obtain TOP SECRET/SCI clearance.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Proficiency with software build tools such as: Jenkins, Gitlab, CMake, Clang, and Ant.

  • Experience developing algorithms in MATLAB

  • General Purpose Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) OPENCL or CUDA development.

  • Cloud Native Technologies experience (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Harbor, Helm, etc.)

  • RF, Radar, EO/IR, Electronic Warfare or Software Defined Radio experience.

  • Current Top Secret or SCI clearance.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $122870 - $208890

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
