Meta Research Engineer in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Meta is seeking Research Engineers to join FAIR, our world-class research lab. We are seeking individuals to work with our AI for Compiler Optimisation team to build novel algorithms that enable compilers to better optimise code and scale them to work on large enterprise code bases. Our research spans language models and novel model architectures and all aspects of compilers and auto-tuning. The candidate should have a solid background in machine learning and compilers, with experience in building and managing complex machine learning pipelines at scale.

Required Skills:

Research Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Develop novel algorithms and techniques for compiler and systems optimisation using machine learning.

  2. Generate and curate novel datasets for training over compiler optimisation problems.

  3. Collaborate with other researchers and engineers to develop and implement new features and improvements.

  4. Collaborate on building demos to illustrate scientific breakthroughs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Effective programming skills (Python, C++)

  2. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Masters degree with relevant research experience in Computer Science or related fields.

  3. Solid background on the foundations of machine learning and reinforcement learning.

  4. Experience in working on AI for compilers.

  5. Experience collaborating within a research team to solve complex problems.

  6. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Lead-authored publications at peer-reviewed conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, CGO, PLDI or similar)

  2. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Science or related fields.

  3. Demonstrated machine learning experience in one of the following: internship, open-source activity, data science competitions

  4. Experience in creating high-performance implementations in deep learning frameworks (such as pytorch, tensorflow)

  5. Experience of building compiler optimisations.

Public Compensation:

$146,994/year to $208,000/year + benefits
