Meta Product Design Engineer in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

At Meta, Design Engineers solve complex Product Design problems with Engineering skills. This is a unique, specialized role with a mandate to support efforts around quality and craft, improve design systems and tools, and help launch 0-1 product concepts and ideas that are reviewed by leadership and used to conduct user research around the world.

Required Skills:

Product Design Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Work with Product Design, Engineering, and Product Management XFN partners to devise and help implement technical solutions for design problems

  2. Proactively identify opportunities for improving Meta's processes and products

  3. Own and drive projects, including alignment with peers, product teams and executive leadership/stakeholders on strategy

  4. Increase the efficiency of our design system to enhance our design capabilities at Facebook and across Meta

  5. Improve tools and drive quality and craft initiatives in an effort to up-level products at Facebook and across Meta

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 2+ years of experience shipping software products with technologies like PHP, Javascript/React, Python, Swift, Java, or other similar frameworks

  2. Experience in full lifecycle of design and development -- including ideation, prototyping, development, backwards compatibility, failovers, validation, and user research

  3. Understanding of design principles and the knowledge to build experiences that span mobile and desktop browsers and native platforms

  4. Experience with programming concepts and prototyping tools, including Origami Studio and Figma

  5. A portfolio that shows a range of technical skills and a creative use of code and prototyping tools

  1. Experience working cross-platform (iOS, Android, Web)

  2. Back-end development experience/Working with databases

  3. Experience developing design systems and tools (specifically, integrating Figma's APIs)

$110,000/year to $159,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
