Posting Overview:

The Event Sales Manager is responsible for the development, planning and performance of all sales duties of their assigned market. Exempt manager must spend more than 50% of their time outside directly selling. Successfully negotiates and closes sales that maximize space use and achieves sales goals. Listen to guests needs, analyzes information and create custom proposals that exceed customer expectations. Establishes positive work relationships with management across departments and throughout the hotel to ensure seamless transitions occur and positive memorable experiences are created.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Develops strong customer relations through frequent communication and the use of professional, courteous and ethical interpersonal interaction.

§ Oversees the Event Planning Team. Sets expectations and holds event management leadership team accountable for service behaviors related to product and service delivery.

§ Work directly with major groups when high profile and financial impact is significant.

§ Consult with customers in order to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions.

§ Creates an atmosphere in all event management operations areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations.

§ Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals to produce desired results.

§ Develops an Event Management strategy that is aligned with the hotel’s business strategy and leads its execution.

§ Ensures the property is apprised of all groups that will impact property operations.

§ Partners with Event Operations including Banquets, Event Services and Event Technology

§ Promptly follows-up on all customer needs and inquiries in an efficient and expedient manner.

Must possess communication skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence professionals and/or hotel guests. Ability to drive to outside sales calls. Excellent comprehension and literacy required to develop marketing plan, create menus and programs, etc.

Abilities

Lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying - tables, chairs, boxes (50 lb. maximum) occasionally. Bending/kneeling - taping down cords, skirting tables, picking up floor after function, occasionally. Mobility - ability to service clients on a moments notice, variable distances. Continuous standing - function observation, client site inspections (one hour minimum to four hours maximum). Climbing - up to 55 steps, 3-5% of 10 hours. Driving - distance varies for sales calls (approximately 20%).

Education/Formal Training

More than two years of post -high school education

Experience

Experience required by position is from one to two full years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).
