Meta Creative Technologist - Instagram in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Instagram is seeking a talented Creative Technologist to develop product experiences that inspire creativity and enable expression. You’ll join Instagram’s Central Design Studio in a hybrid role that encompasses art, design, and software engineering, and will be involved in every phase of the product development cycle — from initial strategy through launch . The ideal candidate is a creative leader with experience across different technical disciplines, who can conceptualize, design and prototype innovative product experiences, and carry them through to polished, bug-free, performant code releases.

Required Skills:

Creative Technologist - Instagram Responsibilities:

  1. You’ll provide creative and technical leadership, partnering with designers and engineers to ship creative tools and experiences in product. You’ll drive creative and technical strategy and deliver hands-on solutions.

  2. You’ll work independently but also collaborate with creative, design, engineering, research, data, and marketing partners to identify and implement creative/technical solutions throughout all phases of the product development cycle.

  3. You’ll proactively identify opportunities for creative/technical innovation, and initiate projects that push the boundaries of creative technology while delivering on team, product, and business priorities.

  4. Build functional prototypes using Origami Studio, Spark AR Studio and other standard creative tools.

  5. Develop internal tools, prototypes, and production pipelines for your partners.

  6. Clearly articulate strategic thinking and creative/technical decisions to a variety of partners.

  7. Give and solicit feedback from partners in service of building the best products.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years professional experience as a creative coder, creative technologist, or similar role.

  2. Solid understanding of computer graphics fundamentals and experience authoring shaders.

  3. Experience with creative coding frameworks like openFrameworks, Processing, Cinder, and TouchDesigner.

  4. Experience designing and prototyping with Figma, Cinema 4D, and After Effects.

  5. Experience programming with JavaScript, Java, C++, C# or other relevant coding languages.

  6. Experience working cross-functionally with design, engineering, research, and data partners.

  7. Effective communication and collaboration skills.

  8. Portfolio that demonstrates experience visual design, product thinking, and broad technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in visual design or technical field, such as Media Arts or Computer Science.

  2. Experience designing and prototyping with Origami Studio.

  3. Experience in augmented reality environments like Spark AR, Lens Studio, ARKit or ARCore.

  4. Experience in real-time 3D engines, such as Unity, Unreal or Three.js

  5. Knowledge of generative AI, computer vision, and machine learning.

Public Compensation:

$153,000/year to $212,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
