AutoZone, Inc. Senior Construction Project Manager in Memphis, Tennessee

The Senior Construction Project Manager supervises the execution of construction according to the Construction Contract AutoZone's policies, procedures, and standards. Ensures that AutoZone's programs are being utilized to optimize the performance of AutoZone and the contractor. The Construction Project Manager is a steward of AutoZone's resources (materials, capital, equipment, and people) and continually assesses contractor performance for quality, cost, schedule, safety, and security expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management : Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring quality and schedule adherence through site inspections.

  • Leadership and Communication : Deploy strong leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills across multiple business channels. Engineer effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics with leadership and internal-external teams.

  • Analytical Skills : Comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents. Identify complex project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and deploy plans to eliminate or reduce risks.

  • Financial Acumen : In-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles, including the execution of complex calculations. Maintain daily reporting and communication on project key metrics and financials.

  • Training and Mentorship : Coach contractors to desired results and help train and mentor Construction Project Managers on standard Project Management practices.

  • Decision Making and Compliance : Make critical decisions daily in fast-track, high-volume construction. Review, negotiate, and facilitate change order requests, and perform Design Reviews for all assigned projects.

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct site inspections for all projects to confirm adherence to AutoZone Specifications and Standards, including dimensions and elevations in Construction Documents. Train and mentor Construction Project Managers on these standards and site inspections, while ensuring ongoing compliance with OSHA 30 safety regulations.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience and Skills : Minimum of eight to fifteen years in construction project management, with effective time management, conflict management, problem-solving, and strong organizational skills. Must be able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

  • Leadership and Team Management : Experience leading, motivating, and managing various team sizes, both internal and external, while holding accountability for performance and results. Must be able to manage multiple direct reports and fill in for the Regional Construction Manager in weekly meetings as needed.

  • Travel and Flexibility : Must be able to travel three days per week and manage internal process improvement projects on an ongoing and as-needed basis.

  • Decision-Making and Compliance : Demonstrated ability to make daily decisions that fulfill fiduciary responsibilities and policies. Must adhere to organizational policies and procedures, negotiate and facilitate change order requests, complete Design Reviews for assigned projects, and compile and present project-specific information to larger groups.
