Job Description

IFF currently has a position available for an experienced Electrical Engineer - Electrical and Instrumentation Reliability at our Plant in Memphis, Tennessee.

Please note, this role requires the ability to acquire Memphis and Shelby County Master Electricians License for site.

Position Description:

  • Support overall unit electrical power and instrument systems and management of change.

  • Assist operations and maintenance to troubleshoot instrument and electrical problems.

  • Execute Change of Design’s (COD) and complete design to implement correctly and safely identified improvements.

  • Act as main I&E liaison with Engineering Contractor for all projects to ensure site policies, procedures, standards, and specifications are met.

  • Write or approve project scopes

  • Mark and approve all I&E drawings

  • Establish and maintain installation details and standards

  • Represent business unit at Process Hazard Analysis and set standards for implementing DX3S standards

  • Participate as active member of unit technology team in order to develop and implement long range plans for instrument and electrical.

  • Provide instrument and electrical checkout and start-up support of facilities in order to meet production and business needs.

  • Guide and train area personnel on instrument and electrical technologies in order to assist reliability effort.

  • Create and maintain related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings and schematics in order to ensure integrity of unit instrument and electrical technologies.

  • Participate in related networks and user groups in order to leverage learnings across the organization.       

  • Act as primary contact with utility, Memphis Light Gas & Water Division in order to address contract, reliability and technical issues. 

  • Provide overall technical guidance to Electrical Specialists and I&E Area Resources on electrical and power distribution issues in order to ensure site electrical needs are met.

  • Support site on electrical classification and arc flash analysis.

  • Support, maintain, design, and improve site electrical distribution systems to include Motor Control Centers, Transformers, Substations, UPSs and other medium voltage applications (23kV and 480V).

  • Support, maintain and improve site lighting.

  • Support, maintain and improve electric motor testing, repair and replacement program.

  • Perform job duties in a manner that follows food safety and quality guidelines including but not limited to HACCP, GMPs, QA Policies, Sanitation, and Pest Control.

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering.

  • 5-10 years manufacturing plant experience (Chemical Plant Preferred). 

  • Demonstrated ability to design, troubleshoot and support area electrical & instrument systems and infrastructure

  • Excellent communications/interpersonal skills to allow productive collaborative relationships with varying levels of organization from   technicians to management.

  • Demonstrated strengths in getting results, meeting commitments & problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of I&E drawings including electrical schematics, loops, logic diagrams, and P&I diagrams with documentation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical principles, technologies, codes, and standards.

  • Demonstrated knowledge Electrical distribution and power systems experience required for this position include Motor Control Centers, Drives, Inverters, and other related 480V systems

  • Able to acquire Memphis and Shelby County Master Electricians License for site.
