Description We're looking for a skilled, permanent Senior Accountant to join a budding company in the Manufacturing industry in the MELVILLE, New York area. As a Senior Accountant, your duties will include financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This position offers you great long-term potential and a strong compensation and benefits package. We are looking for someone who has excellent analytical skills and enjoys working in a challenging and fast-paced environment to support the continued success of the firm. This Senior Accountant role is located in Melville, New York.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Manage Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Work with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests

  • Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

  • Present analysis on financial results such as trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc.

  • Perform monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP

  • Strong interest in continuously improving the automation of the accounting and reporting process

  • Present Balance Sheet account reconciliations

  • Allocate and prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis reports for management Requirements - SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Must have excellent time management skills

  • Earlier work involving Accounting Principles

  • Adeptness in Account maintenance

  • Background working with Accounting operations

  • Practical knowledge of Accounting Functions

  • Knowledge of Accident reporting

  • Account Coding experience preferred

  • Account Adjustments experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of account management

  • General familiarity with account reconciliation

  • Account Discrepancies experience

  • Good understanding of Accounting procedures

  • Account Balance experience

  • Accounting Guidance experience highly preferred

  • Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

  • Skill with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • 2+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills

  • Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Proficient in ERP systems

  • Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
