The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform component prep, hand soldering, and rework of circuit card assemblies with complex through-hole and surface mount components including wires and terminals utilizing hand tools, microscope, soldering iron, hot air, and bottom-side heater to remove, install, align, and straighten parts while meeting the Class 3 requirements of IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and IPC-7711/7721

  • Ability to identify different surface mount component packages to determine the best method for rework

  • Perform cable and harness assembly, soldering, and rework meeting the Class 3 requirements of IPC J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and IPC-7711/7721

  • Verify product conformance to the required standards

  • Remove/apply conformal coating and epoxies as required

  • Measure and trim various materials

  • Read, interpret, and follow assembly work instructions, drawings and bill of materials

  • Ability to acquire and maintain IPC Certifications

  • May be required to repair damaged boards, lifted or missing lands of pads utilizing a bonding iron and adhesive backed circuit frames to the requirements of IPC-7711/7721

Job Responsibilities Part II

  • Follow written and verbal instruction

  • Ability to use computer system to locate files, retrieve and enter data

  • Participate in company or special training classes with emphasis on employee improvement

  • Ensure work area is kept clean and safety rules are followed

  • Ensure work bench tools and equipment are maintained in good working order and calibrated as required

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience soldering CCAs with through-hole and surface mount technology

  • 5+ years’ experience reworking CCAs with an emphasis on various surface mount packages including those with fine-pitch leads, bottom-side thermal pads/terminals and no-lead packages

  • Knowledge of the requirements of IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-7711/7721

  • Experience in cable harness assembly and solder (desired)

  • Repair experience (desired)

  • Able to use a microscope while performing soldering tasks

  • High School Diploma or GED
