Health First Security Courier - Health First Safety in Melbourne, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY

To be fully engaged in providing unarmed security services to ensure the safety and security of associates, patients, and visitors of Health First facilities.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Picks up and delivers incoming/outgoing USPS Mail to/from Holmes Regional Medical Center mailroom to Health First entities
  2. Picks up and sorts all interoffice mail at all Health First entities
  3. Picks up, logs, and transports cash bags, supplies, bio-hazard specimens, x-rays, medical records, surgical instruments, payroll, blood platelets, medication, and lab supplies to/from Health First entities
  4. Conducts daily vehicle safety inspection and monitors vehicle maintenance requirements
  5. Conducts patient escorts, patient watches, and provides safety escorts; assists and/or transports deceased to morgue
  6. Completes required shift logs and reports; complies with site post orders, and Health First policies and procedures
  7. Completes required shift logs and reports; investigates and prepares reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities
  8. Assists associates, patients, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  9. Performs Security Officer duties, as needed:
    • o Performs security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle. o Investigates suspicious situations. o Warns violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking or carrying prohibited articles. o Sounds alarms or calls police/fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons. o Watches for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards. o Monitors entrances and exits; permits authorized persons to enter property and observes departing persons to protect against theft of company property and ensure. o Authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate physical security requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

*Licensure: *

  • Current, valid driver’s license required. State of Florida driver’s license required within 30 days of establishing Florida residency and maintain.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record and maintain.
  • Class “D” Security Officer License preferred.
  • Certification: Must complete American Heart Association HeartSaver CPR AED Course within 60 days of hire and maintain certification.

*Work Experience: *

  • Must be at least 21 years of age for insurance purposes.
  • At least one (1) year verifiable work experience preferably in courier, security, or customer service role.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to speak/understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.

*Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: *

  • Expected completion of Crisis Prevention Training within first 90 days.
  • Physical ability to deal with or subdue mental health patient in crisis.
  • Must be willing to carry out tasks that may require entering the hospital morgue and the roof-top helipad.
  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
  • Ability to actively listen, interact cordially and effectively communicate with the public.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively.
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend conversation and symbols in the English language.
  • Attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to climb up to nine (9) flights of stairs.
  • Must be able to withstand extreme heat and cold.
  • Must be able to listen, speak, walk, stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time, for assigned shift.
  • Must be able to lift & carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able & willing to properly wear Personal Protective mask & gloves for assigned shift.
  • Must be able to respond within 90-seconds of an urgent duress call.
