Health First Patient Service Representative II- Hematology Oncology in Melbourne, Florida

*POSITION SUMMARY *

To be fully engaged in providing No Harm/Quality, Customer Experience, and Stewardship through friendly, efficient, and accurate patient experience by demonstrating outstanding customer service skills and using technology to manage patient care including registration, appointment scheduling, assisting other clinical specialties, and assistance with a variety of departmental projects and clerical duties.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ability to prioritize work and management time efficiently.
  • Obtains demographic and insurance information from patient and inputs data accurately into the patient management system.
  • Obtains required signatures on consents and distribute patient information and compliance literature.
  • Processes and maintains all schedules for the area of responsibility, communicates schedule changes as needed.
  • Ability to analyze and recognize trends/issues and escalates to management.
  • Assists with training new staff on department specific procedures and applications.
  • Facilitates patient appointments and referrals in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.
  • Answers telephones properly, courteously, and tactfully; directing calls and returning messages to the appropriate party; takes complete and accurate messages.
  • Ability to perform all Patient Service Representative duties in various specialties across Health First Medical Group.
  • Collects all current and past-due patient responsibility balances.
  • Prepares financial estimate of anticipated prices for services prior to services being rendered and communicates estimated cost to the patient.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS *

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification: Healthcare related certification (Examples: Medical Office Assistant, Medical Terminology, Coding, etc.).
  • Work Experience: Experience in at least 2 clinical specialties or 5 years of EHR or 5 years medical billing system experience.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to relate well to all customers, knowledge of healthcare terminology, knowledge of Microsoft Office.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Associate degree.
  • Certification: CPR certification.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 5 years healthcare office experience.

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS *

  • Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping.
  • Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
  • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined, on site or remote.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
