Applied Ecology Inc. Mid-Level Water Resources Engineer in Melbourne, Florida

Mid-Level Water Resources Engineer

This position can be based out of Melbourne, Orlando or Tampa areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related water resources discipline; Masters' degree preferred.
  • PE License in Florida.
  • Five (5) years of experience in water resources engineering.
  • Valid U.S. Drivers' License and clean driving record
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Experience in Auto CAD and Civil 3D preferred, MEP/Revit, and hydraulic modeling platforms.
  • Experience with surface water, groundwater, and integrated modeling software
  • Knowledge of the regulatory processes in Florida.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with surface water, groundwater, and integrated modeling codes such as HEC-RAS, ICPR, MIKE-SHE, and/or SWMM.
  • Technical writing skills andcommunication skills.
  • Background check.

Preferred

  • Experience with Green Infrastructure, Water Quality, or Coastal Resilience projects.
  • Experience with GIS editing and data management using ESRI ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online software.
  • Related project management and/or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Federal experience, including DoD experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of the regulatory processes in Florida
  • Aptitude for researching and solving technical problems
  • Technical skills and scientific integrity
  • Numerical modeling skills are preferred
  • Workon a cross-disciplinary team under tight and pressured deadlines
  • Multitasking skills
  • Move across a variety of uneven terrains such as mud, rock, grass, dirt, and other unpaved terrains to conduct field work including collection of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, stormwater, and sediment
  • Work in adverse seasonal weather conditions
  • Wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), etc.
  • Operate a full-size pickup truck

Responsibilities:

  • Assists project managers and team leads to execute work involving conventional and innovative environmental and ecological engineering designs and other related infrastructure projects.
  • Supports a variety of projects that may include planning, evaluation, design, and construction of wastewater, water resources management, and storm water treatment systems.
  • Performs field assessments to evaluate and document existing site-specific conditions or collect design criteria or evaluation data.
  • Participates on interdisciplinary research teams to conduct environmental studies, permitting, and alternative analysis.
  • Performs calculations, prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports under supervision.
  • Checks performance or conformity with design plans and specifications through field inspection and reporting.
  • Reviews local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Applies approved standard operating practices to field and data management practices.
  • Writes and reviews technical reports including figures and tables.
  • Contributes to the development of proposals and scopes of work in response to client task requests.
