Actalent FPGA Engineer in Melbourne, Florida

Description:

Our client is currently searching for an FPGA design

engineer to join their team and work a couple large DoD government projects.

Areas where you would be spending most of your time in:

-Working on new projects for DoD or military customers

-FPGA design and development utilizing VHDL and/or Verilog languages

-Ensure the FPGA simulations verify performance, then integrate and test the FPGA on the circuit card assembly (CCA).

-Working with Modulation and Demodulation, Digital Filters

-Verify FPGA implementation against system models in MATLAB or Simulink

-Conduct Baseband sampling

-Responsible for doing Forward Error Correction (FEC)

Skills & Qualifications:

Must Have Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, BSEE and minimum 3-7 years experience

-Basic understanding of communication theory with the ability to quickly understand complex processing algorithms

-Experience with design and test of FPGA based digital signal and baseband processing

-At least one programming language: Verilog or VHDL

-Must be eligible to acquire a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Skills:

DSP Experience

Basic understanding of signal processing algorithm coding implementation in one or more of MATLAB, C, C++, Python

Basic understanding of software tools such as Integrated

Development Environments (IDE) as well as version control and defect reporting tools

Experience implementing signal processing algorithms in FPGA and Software

Practical experience with wireless communications

Basic understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems

Experience with Xilinx FPGAs is a plus.

Expertise in laboratory debug techniques using digital scopes, logic analyzers, BERTS & other complex measurement equipment

Familiarity with Git is a plus

Familiarity with MATLAB and/or Simulink is preferred.

High speed memory interfaces

High speed serial protocols (PCI Express, SRIO, Ethernet)

Experience with Analog to Digital (AD) and Digital to Analog (DA) interfaces

Experience with control protocols such I2C, SPI, RS‐232/422
