Amazon Regional Packaging Engineering Manager, ACES in Melbourne, Australia

Description

Are you interested in driving significant packaging waste reduction projects for Amazon Australia and make a difference in the Sustainability world? We're looking for an experienced, driven, analytical, and creative Packaging Engineer to drive e-commerce packaging projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team in an emerging business at Amazon. This role will help to ensure our quality and sustainability in packaging consumables and shipping methods that will assure customer experience. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives and will share and leverage best practices from other geographies. This leader will be a natural self-starter who is comfortable supporting both daily execution activities and large, complex and cross-functional projects.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive and execute packaging projects.

  • Be the technical expert on packaging qualification practices and standards.

  • Drive awareness and adoption of WW Packaging Standards within and outside of Amazon.

  • Develop and manage materials and supplier’s qualification processes.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies in our packaging evaluation process.

  • Daily interaction with Category Procurement Operations Team and with key vendors.

  • Coordinate and communicate packaging improvements with key stakeholders.

  • Ensure new packaging adheres to the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines (SPG’s)

  • Support development of case studies for Amazon to quantify the environmental benefits from packaging

  • Introduce the Australian Recycling Label (ARL) to our packaging

About the team

This role sits within the Australian arm of the Amazon Customer Excellence System (ACES) whom act as internal consultants/process experts for our Fulfillment Centers. The team has a consistent focus on operational excellence through continuous improvement.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Melbourne, VIC, AUS | Sydney, NSW, AUS

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
