Timber Products Company Maintenance Superintendent in Medford, Oregon

POSITION SUMMARY

Timber Products Company in Medford, OR is looking for an experienced Maintenance Superintendent for its Particleboard mill. The Maintenance Superintendent supports the Company in meeting its production goals by overseeing the mill’s equipment maintenance activities; ensures minimal downtime for equipment maintenance and repairs. Oversees, coordinates, and assigns work schedules for maintenance personnel. Oversees preventative maintenance programs using CMMS (computerized maintenance management system). Designs and develops new equipment and/or makes modifications to present equipment to meet production needs. Ensures a SAFE and efficient work environment by communicating and managing Company established quality, production, SAFETY and human resource policies & procedures.

MAJOR TASKS

  • Oversees all equipment maintenance and repair activities for the Medford Particleboard mill. Makes frequent decisions regarding maintenance schedules, priority of equipment repairs, overtime, and staffing needs. Works with employees to ensure minimal equipment downtime for maintenance and repair. Assists in resolving technical equipment repair problems, and may perform maintenance tasks as needed.

  • Leads, trains and develops salaried and hourly Maintenance staff for maximum effectiveness. Performs all supervisory responsibilities associated with the assigned staff.

  • Responsible for completing projects on time and within budget.

  • Orders parts, equipment and tools, and contracts with outside services as necessary.

  • Designs equipment or modifies present equipment to meet production needs. May obtain assistance by assigning other personnel, engineering and/or outside contractors to design equipment modifications.

  • Champion the CMMS to ensure its use across all facets of the site. Works with the Maintenance Planner to ensure the CMMS is meeting the needs of the mill and staff.

  • Assists with environmental affairs including meeting air and water quality standards, testing and meeting permit requirements. Also, ensure the all fire systems are fully functional at all times.

  • Responsible for working with safety committees, assisting with inspections and investigations and following up on hazard reporting.

  • Assists in maintaining quality control standards to maximize company profitability and achieve customer satisfaction.

  • Completes administrative paperwork and reporting related to production reports, scheduling, personnel actions, timekeeping and safety.

  • Responsible for supporting and enforcing company policies and procedures.

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in production management, engineering or other technical field with a minimum of 5 years of maintenance supervisory experience, preferably in a wood products or other manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge and practical experience managing industrial electrical systems preferred.

  • Must be able to communicate well with all levels of personnel, management and contractors.

  • Requires the ability to read blue prints and design equipment.

  • Must have computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and the ability to learn and use company specific software.
