onsemi SiC Device Engineer in Mechelen, Belgium

In this function, you will assist in and contribute to the understanding of the extrinsic and intrinsic reliability of power devices, with main focus on the influence of crystal defects on the transistor lifetime of SiC MOSFETs. More specific, the job function entails:

  • Intrinsic reliability: Evaluation of the reliability and the lifetime of power semiconductor devices through statistical-physical models with accelerated high-throughput testing (HTRB, HTGB, TDDB, Qbd, cosmic rays, diode degradation etc) and state-of-the-art electrical characterization. Work with the development, reliability, failure analysis and production teams in onsemi world-wide to make the experimental set-ups, collect and analyse the data and give guidance on the use of the devices for giving use profiles.

  • Extrinsic reliability: Contribute to the development of onsemi’s wafer-level burn-in strategy. Gather the necessary data, analyse the data using statistical software and provide inputs for the wafer level burn-in strategy. Work with the production teams to reduce process defects and with the epi/substrate teams to reduce SiC defects in order to reduce the FIT rate of SiC MOSFETs.

  • Analysis of large datasets using statistical software (JMP, Python etc) for sound decision making. Apply Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning etc to find correlations between epi and substrate defect scans and the electrical and wafer-level burn-in data.

  • Contribute to International standards related to Silicon Carbide in order to stay in sync with the market requirements. Over time become an active member of a JEDEC or/and AGQ324 working group(s). Publication of articles to increase visibility of onsemi for Silicon Carbide products.
