Confidential Employer Roads Maintenance Laborer in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Performs road maintenance including, but not limited to snow removal, paving, road and Stormwater infrastructure repair and leaf collection

• Knowledge of road maintenance and paving material work and terminology

• Operates trucks over 33,000 lbs. GVW as well as motorized highway and other equipment such as dump trucks, graders, backhoes, front-end loaders, rollers, tractors and boom mowers

• Operates laborer tools and equipment including rakes, shovels, hammers, chain saws, weed eaters, leaf blowers, etc. for maintenance functions including but not limited to tree removal, mowing, landscaping, and turf management

• Performs rough carpentry, cement finishing, and maintenance on Township owned parks and properties, street signs and traffic control devices, storm sewers, and other drainage structures

• Maintains all assigned materials, tools and equipment; which includes light mechanic work such as oil changes, wiring and minor repairs

• Procures job related materials and supplies

• Performs flagger duties after proper training

• Ability to work safely in all areas

• Ability to travel to various locations throughout the Township to fulfill daily tasks

SILVER SPRING TOWNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION Roads Maintenance Worker Page 2 of 3 POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Experience, Education, Licenses/Certifications • Experience in road maintenance, paving and repair preferred • High School diploma, GED or educational equivalent preferred • Valid driver's license at hire, obtain CDL license with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire • Valid flagger certification, preferred; but required within six (6) months of hireGeneral Knowledge/Abilities • Ability to cross-train in the various maintenance functions. • Ability to cooperate with co-workers as member of a team • Ability to understand and comply with written standards and drawings for planting and improvement projects. • Ability to work independently but remain flexible in accordance with demands of schedule and work with team in order to achieve objectives. • Ability to communicate effectively and understand directions. • Ability to adhere to safety standards and recognize safety warnings and hazards. • Ability to prepare accurate records. • Ability to perform manual labor with basic building and grounds equipment, including shovels, picks, mowers, etc., in all types of weather conditions • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends not included in normal work hours • Ability to work safely in all areas • Ability to function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with the general public and fellow employees • Ability to execute the policies and procedures of Silver Spring Township • Ability to fluently speak and read the English language along with understanding and following both written and verbal direction • Ability to pull, push, move, and/or transport a seventy-five (75) pounds Other • Employee must be able to report within 1 hour to an off hours call back • Employee must be able to take and pass random drug tests SILVER SPRING TOWNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION
