Public Safety HR Delivery Center Assistant Medical Director (Management Physician) in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is looking for an established physician to serve as Assistant Medical Director. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor looking for non-traditional experience that allows for work life balance. As an Assistant Medical Director, you will be responsible for providing medical and consultative advice and oversight to contracted physicians, nurses, and other professional medical staff. This will include reviewing case histories, staff reports, and inspection of medical services in State Correctional facilities. You will oversee clinical services professionals which include medical physicians, physician assistants, certified registered nurse practitioners, and nurses. You will identify staff professional growth needs by developing and conducting educational training sessions. Additionally, you will evaluate and provide recommendations regarding medical care provided by contracted physicians and Department of Corrections nurses through the use of the quality improvement program, utilization management, and the grievance system.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • *Telework: *You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week (subject to change based on operational need). In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg.  
  • Salary:* *In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Completion of an approved U.S. residency training program in the allopathic or osteopathic medical specialty of family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, or occupational medicine, and five years of post-residency experience in the practice of medicine, including one year in the last three years acting in an administrative or consultative capacity over physicians assigned a direct primary care caseload. 

     Special Requirements:

  • All positions require possession of an active license to practice medicine in Pennsylvania issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine or Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine. 

  • All employees require an active registration to prescribe medication from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. 
  • All employees require board certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties; board certification by the American Osteopathic Board in Family Practice, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Occupational Medicine; board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine; or board certification by the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine as a Certified Medical Director. 

     

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
