Steampunk Solutions Architect in McLean, Virginia

Overview

Steampunk is supporting a government customer that is organized into agile teams working to develop integrated solutions using the Agile/SAFe Framework.Serve as the technical lead and Solution Architect for a large software development program using Agile, DevSecOps and Human-Centered Design to build intuitive, simple systems.The current technology stack includes front-end web interfaces, web services, server-side business logic batch jobs such as extract-transform-load (ETL), and database backends.

Contributions

  • Leverage experience developing software solutions to architect systems using microservice development techniques, containers, domain-driven design patterns to design and build complex software systems

  • Leverage DevSecOps techniques to create resiliency, improve efficiency, reliability, and security of the mission

  • Support systems architecture development and integration, script development, integrated logistics support, configuration management, systems and mission engineering, and life cycle management

  • Demonstrate expertise in Cloud architectural constructs as well as Cloud-specific technologies and services using knowledge of Cloud APIs to establish and maintain Cloud environments programmatically is preferred

  • Assist the program manager as the lead technical engineer for the program and engage with multiple functional groups (and other contractors) to comprehend challenges and prototype new ideas

Qualifications

  • Must be US Citizen

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • BA or BS Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or relevant field required

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Great attention to detail

  • Organizational skills

  • 8+ years of experience with software development, software architecture, APIs, and microservices

  • 8+ years of experience with build, deployment, and release automation and orchestration

  • 8+ years of experience with supporting enterprise Cloud applications or infrastructure

  • 8+ years of experience with database engineering, and manipulating relational and NOSQL databases

  • 8+ years of experience with infrastructure as code environments, including any activities around automated server or network configurations, large-scale software deployments, and monitoring and testing, such as CI/CD

  • 8+ years of experience with automating tests for determining quality, security, performance and usability of a system.

  • Experience with multiple back-end and front-end languages(e.g. C, C#, Java, Python, Ruby on Rails) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js)

  • Experience with automation tools, including Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible

  • Experience with containerization technologies such as OpenShift, EKS, and Docker

  • Experience writing and evaluating user stories, acceptance criteria, and pull-requests

  • Experience working in HCD, Agile and DevSecOps environments
