Kaiser Permanente Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, CRNA - PRN, Per Diem - McLean in McLean, Virginia

Job Summary:

To provide high quality anesthesia care in accordance with KP standards and applicable regulatory laws and under the supervision of an anesthesiologist.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist in performing and documenting a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including gathering data, requesting consultations and diagnostic studies; selecting, obtaining, ordering, and administering pre-anesthetic medications and fluids; initiating venous access and obtaining informed consent for anesthesia.

  • Develop a comprehensive anesthetic plan in conjunction with anesthesiologist.

  • Implement an anesthetic plan by selecting and administering the anesthetics, adjuvant and accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic.

  • Initiate the anesthetic technique which may include: general, regional, local, and sedation.

  • Select, apply, and insert appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities for continuous evaluation of the patients physical status.

  • Manage patients airway, cardiac and pulmonary status using current practice modalities and guidelines.

  • Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, ordering and administering medications, fluids, and ventilatory support.

  • Implement appropriate post operative pain management.

  • Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and drugs, and using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.

  • Perform patient assessment to ascertain appropriate recovery room placement.

  • Collaborate with the anesthesia team in developing and periodically reviewing protocols / procedures relevant to department functioning.

  • Participate in monitoring quality of care according to professional standards and established criteria.

  • Performs other related duties as directed and as appropriate to scope of practice.

Monday-Friday with a possibility of Saturday's and variable start times.

  • Graduate of an accredited school for Nurse Anesthetists required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required before hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.

  • Registered Nurse License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire

    OR

  • Compact License: Registered Nurse within 6 months of hire

  • Registered Nurse License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support

  • Basic Life Support

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support

  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist National Certification

  • National Provider Identifier

  • Two (2) years of clinical experience as a CRNA preferred.
