The Raytheon Specialty Aperture Mechanical Design Section is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for RF design and prototyping at our McKinney, TX location.

The candidate will reside within the Advanced EO & RF Mechanical Engineering Department and perform mechanical design, documentation, and prototype fabrication of Antennas, Radomes, Radio Frequency (RF) Sensors, and supporting electronics and sub-systems for early concept development programs.

Responsibilities Include:

The candidate will contribute to design concept development, mechanical modeling, mechanical RF design, and trade studies in addition to performing hardware fabrication. The candidate may be responsible for directing the work of small teams of mechanical engineers within a broader integrated product team (IPT) or leading small internal research and development (IRAD) projects.

The candidate will be responsible for developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. The ideal candidate would have multi-year experience in the use of CREO modeling CAD software. The candidate will provide mechanical outlines, construction details, connector selection and specifications, and drawings for piece parts and assemblies.

The candidate is also expected to be experienced in the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Familiarity with ANSI drawing standards is required. The candidate will be also responsible for meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for their work products. The candidate will work with limited supervision while exercising some latitude in defining the technical objectives of the assignment. The position will require frequent interaction with electrical engineers, program management, external personnel, and suppliers.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of composite and radio frequency products for military and aerospace applications.

Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field.

Extensive experience with and a strong desire to continue performing hands-on fabrication of test articles, components, and prototypes.

Experience with fabrication of polymer matrix composites for radome applications.

Experience with fabrication and application of radar absorbing materials.

Experience with precision machining and associated CNC equipment programming.

Knowledge of GD&T and ANSI drawing standards.

Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).

Periodic travel, up to 25%, may be required as needed to support off-site activities.

U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

Extensive solid modeling experience (preferably CREO).

Experience with testing of electronics to military environments (MIL-STD-810).

Finite element analysis (preferably Abaqus).

Excellent leadership skills and project management skills.

Strong presentation and communication skills.

Active U.S. Secret security clearance and special access clearable.

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

Required Education:

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
