The Raytheon Specialty Aperture Mechanical Design Section is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for RF design and prototyping at our McKinney, TX location. The candidate will reside within the Advanced EO & RF Mechanical Engineering Department and perform mechanical design, documentation, and prototype fabrication of Antennas, Radomes, Radio Frequency (RF) Sensors, and supporting electronics and sub-systems for early concept development programs. The candidate will contribute to design concept development, mechanical modeling, mechanical RF design, and trade studies in addition to performing hardware fabrication. The candidate may also be involved in small internal research and development (IRAD) projects.

The candidate will be involved in developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. The candidate shall follow established procedures and instructions while working with a Lead Mechanical Engineer to ensure that overall design goals are met. The ideal candidate would have experience in the use of CREO modeling CAD software. The candidate will provide mechanical outlines, construction details, connector selection and specifications, and drawings for piece parts and assemblies. The ideal candidate would also have training and/or experience in the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for design documentation and design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA). Familiarity with ANSI drawing standards is a plus. The candidate will be also responsible for meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for their work products. The position will require frequent interaction with electrical engineers, other engineering functions, program chief engineers, and suppliers. Periodic travel, up to 25%, may be required as needed to support off-site activities.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of composite and radio frequency products for military and aerospace applications.

A strong desire to perform hands-on fabrication of test articles, components, and prototypes.

Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field.

Ability to travel periodically to suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and customer sites to support programs (up to 25%).

Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance.

Ability to obtain U.S. Secret security clearance and special access clearable.

Desired Qualifications:

Solid modeling experience (preferably CREO).

Knowledge of GD&T, ANSI drawing standards, and first order analysis techniques.

Experience with fabrication of polymer matrix composites for radome applications.

Experience with fabrication and application of radar absorbing materials.

Experience with testing of electronics to military environments (MIL-STD-810).

Experience with precision machining and associated CNC equipment programming.

Strong presentation and communication skills.

Active U.S. Secret security clearance and special access clearable.

Required Education:

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

Desired Education:

M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
