The Mechanical Engineering department leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Technician – TMIT & RFSI Materials and Process Engineering to join our team.
This position is located at the McKinney, TX facility – On-site role.
As the Staff Technician , you will work closely with the M&P engineers to support factory production. You will be instrumental in troubleshooting, process improvements, and cost reductions. You will work with production operators, operations management, and quality engineering daily. This role will support the Advanced Programs Factory. You will be the expert on assembly of the product (a proprietary mechanical/electrical system).
In this role you will work with Process Engineers and other Engineering disciplines to produce cutting-edge military hardware. Our Staff Technicians also work directly with internal production teams to resolve assembly and integration issues. This role will not only allow you to work side-by-side with some of our best and brightest, but also to gain the experience and exposure necessary to advance your career.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist the production floor with daily issues; evaluate materials, equipment, and processes.
Resolve problems preventing products from meeting customer requirements.
Interface with various functions including Quality, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Operations Engineering.
Generate and implement process improvements to reduce cost and cycle time.
Document assembly and rework processes.
Required Qualifications:
Typically requires an AA/AS degree and 6 years of prior relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 8 years of relevant experience is required.
Experience with mechanical assembly, including primary and secondary torque mechanisms, installation of sensitive electronic assemblies, and proper tool use .
Thorough knowledge of Total Quality Control (TQC) program requirements.
An active and existing U.S. government issued secret clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
Ability to work with large teams in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate and collaborate with Factory, Managers, Engineering, and Customers.
Experience with Common Manufacturing Enterprise System (CMES) and Visiprise Manufacturing (VM) factory operating systems.
Thorough knowledge of assembly processes and a hands-on understanding of the product and equipment.

AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience.

The salary range for this role is 44,000 USD - 102,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
