We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the planning and organizing work of plumbing journeymen, the development of material and labor estimates for proposed work, as well as the budget, inventories, procedures and policies. Work is primarily evaluated for effective use of resources, accomplishment of assigned projects, and adherence to trade standards.

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of plumbing equipment including faucets, grease traps, flush valves, sinks, water heaters, commodes, drinking fountains, domestic water heater pumps, flush meters, backflow prevention devices and valves and water meters.
  • Perform and oversee the performance of preventative maintenance inspections and repair in all facilities including, but not limited to domestic water systems and related devices and sanitary waste drainage systems.
  • Respond to emergency plumbing calls such as clogged drains, broken water lines and frozen pipes. Evaluate situations and take proper corrective action.
  • Investigate and respond to all emergency calls concerning reported gas odors and possible natural gas leaks.
  • Represent department management in after-hours emergency "on call" status.
  • Oversee maintenance and repairs of all natural gas services, including gas valves.
  • Oversee and install new plumbing fixtures and related devices sinks, commodes, urinals, faucets, drinking fountains (excluding electrical connections), domestic water heaters and related devices.
  • Monitor system efficiency and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Oversee contractors under contract to the Maintenance Department.
  • Prepare and submit budgets. Oversee and approve expenditures related to plumbing activities.
  • Maintain compliance with national, state and local codes.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, plus climbing and balancing. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises, gases and workspace restrictions. In addition, incumbents may be subjected to vibrations, chemicals and oils. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. Frequent physical effort required.

Requirements High school graduation or GED.

Licenses and Certifications Licensed as a Master Plumber in the State of Texas. Licensed as a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester preferred.
