Performs highly complex transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: contract maintenance and/or material and process inspection; traffic control; helping the public during emergency situations; and training other employees. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Reviews proposed construction plans, specifications, and estimate (PSE) and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, policies, procedures, and design guidelines.Inspects barricades to ensure compliance with barricade standards.Maintains construction project records and/or bridge inspection records; processes related paperwork; reviews files for compliance with the bridge inspection Manual of Procedures.Serves as the only maintenance contract inspector on a small project.Performs hand and/or computer-aided drafting, design and calculating work.
