What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: This role will assure the completion of capital projects within cost, schedule, and performance goals. The engineer will manage capital projects for new or expanded manufacturing facilities typically up to $5 million. This professional is expected to also be capable of providing engineering support of ongoing and new operations and of mentoring less-experienced staff.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Prepare a detailed scope of project in conjunction with process engineering, process technology, and manufacturing. Work with the project team through project completion.

  • Prepare and route Capital Approval Requests (CARs).

  • Set up cost control and reporting for projects

  • Control the flow of information between Olin and representatives of engineering firms, equipment vendors, and contractors in the formulation, design and execution of projects.

  • Work with technical resources to prepare detailed specifications for materials and equipment to enable purchasing to obtain competitive bids. Responsible for evaluating bids and making recommendations to purchasing.

  • Coordinate the field construction efforts through interpretation of plans, specifications and schedules and work with construction personnel to ensure a safe, timely, cost effective, and quality project.

  • Submit project reports detailing the status of the project with respect to engineering, procurement, cost construction, and schedule.

  • Provide overall coordination of the various disciplines on the project to assure a coordinated and efficient use of design, engineering, and construction manpower. Promote satisfactory human relations, personnel morale, and job effectiveness

  • Assure the technical correctness of the project by coordinating the review of all drawings, specifications and equipment inquiries.

  • Control various stages of engineering and constructions costs to ensure that each project is completed within the budget appropriation.

  • Design and execute project to ensure compliance with OSHA’s Process Safety Management Elements

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.

  • Demonstrated construction management and leadership abilities. Communicates effectively internal and external contacts. Experience in leading multi-functional teams preferred.

  • Knowledge of applicable industrial standards; i.e. ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM.

  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing equipment; i.e. tanks, pumps, piping, HVAC, industrial refrigeration, etc.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Project. Knowledge of SAP and AutoCAD preferred. Experience in the use of computerized project management systems preferred.

  • Occasional travel required

  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
