Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center Patient Access Manager in McComb, Mississippi

Under general supervision of the Director of Patient Access, uses the clerical process to safely collect demographic/financial information from the patient or insured when arriving to the admissions office for registration. The position involves direct patient contact and requires the ability to interact with the public in a positive manner, thusly, enhancing the hospital image.  The Patient Access Manager in concert with the Director of Patient Access, will participate in the recruitment, scheduling and discipline of staff.  The Patient Access Manager provides leadership and instruction to all patient access representative personnel and training of new personnel. The Patient Access Manager is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures and regulations for the department and organization. Will be responsible to assist with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to unit.  Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. Provides coverage and presence to the Patient Access work units at the hospital and clinics. This individual is responsible for ensuring the effective operations through organizing, scheduling, and monitoring department workload.  In addition, this individual will monitor work quality and productivity metrics and coordinate training as needed. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the effective operations of the day-to-day activities of Patient Access. This person will identify areas for improvement and help develop plans for improving the quality of these processes.  Ensure the Director of Patient Access is informed of any unusual and significant issues that may affect patient satisfaction, timeliness of services or reimbursement or general patient flow.
